9 Ways to Move Into the Depths, Part 3

When it comes to finding personal growth, the past and the future are two very useful reference points, but we can never forget a third and indispensable element: the work we have to do from *within*.

Our past reveals to us our past traumas, our former mistakes, our outdated ways of thinking. Our future can reflect our anxieties and our fears of the unknown. But what about the place that lives inside of us right now?

The place within is a destination most people in the 21st century don’t always want to touch or visit. It’s easier to doom scroll or binge watch Netflix than to go into your depths to face the beings that haunt you.

The place within is a place of potential growth, but it’s scary to enter, because it’s a place where we have to be accountable for our actions. It’s a place where we have also challenge our assumptions about the world and the reality we live in. And most importantly, the place within is a place where we can ask ourselves, “Who really am I as my true self, separate from the cultural and childhood expectations that surround me?”

This process involves being able to look at the darkest parts of our psyche. It’s not about aiming for happiness or aspiring for happy endings to our stories. It’s about being frank about who we really are, and integrating all parts of ourselves into a single self who is kinder to us than our separate parts can be.

This Fall I launched LED Queens coaching services. I aim to be a facilitator and coach for those of you who are working through these moments. I specialize in LGBTQ/BIPOC folks who also are seeking a framework of being coached that excludes colonization and its harmful effects. If you’re looking to feel more confident about your presentation, trying to make an ambitious career shift, dealing with grief, or simply just trying to live a leaner, more fulfilling life in this moment of late-stage capitalism, I’m your person. You can sign up fora free compatibility session with me right on my web site LEDQueens.com.
